When everything is urgent, it’s hard to know where to start. I help connect the work your engineers are doing to what the business needs, including the things you can stop doing.

Make the expensive decisions carefully.

Build it, buy it, or leave it alone? I’ll work through the options with you and explain what each choice means for the people who have to live with it.

Find out why things aren’t moving.

I work with the team to understand what’s holding them up. Sometimes there’s a technical problem. Sometimes people are waiting for a decision nobody knows they’re supposed to make.

Who makes the decisions?

We decide that before I start. I take responsibility for the areas you bring me in to lead; we’re explicit about what stays with you and your team. Everyone should know who can make which call.

What happens when we need a full-time CTO?

Then we talk about the transition. We’ll check the arrangement as the business changes, including whether you need a permanent hire, more time or someone with a different specialism.
